March 31, the day of liberation of Bucha, Irpen, Gostomel. The day of heroism and pain, the day of rage and revenge.
For
this day in the framework of the “Hero Cities” series Ukrposhta issued a
stamp “Forget not! Do not Forgive! Bucha. Irpen. Gostomel”, as well as
postcards and envelopes of the series. The stamps of this block are
dedicated to all three hero-cities of the Kiev region: the destroyed
Mriya, the people under the bridge in Irpen, and the burnt enemy
equipment in the streets of Bucha.
In
the first days of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the cities
of the Kiev region took the brunt of the enemy’s assault on the
Ukrainian capital. Civilians faced inhuman cruelty and arbitrariness of
the occupants: mass murders of civilians in Bucha, accompanied by
torture and rape, were called the Bucha Massacre. In the margins of the
block the panorama of Irpen shows the scale of the destruction of these
towns. On the postage stamps of the block there are documentary photos
of the destroyed column of enemy equipment on Station Street in Bucha,
the crossing of the Irpen River, which was the main route for the
evacuation of civilians, and a photo of the largest transport in the
world, the An-225 “Mriya” aircraft destroyed by the enemy at the
airfield in Khotomel. In March 2022, 10 cities in Ukraine, including
